LOCATION
Lotus, California is a small town just across the river from its more famous neighbor, Coloma (known for being the origin of the California gold rush). We’ll be staying at the EarthTrek Expeditions property - a whitewater rafting camp located right on the water’s edge of the South Fork American River. This location is (literally) on top of a premier rafting destination, thirty minutes from outdoor climbing, one hour from the renowned Lover’s Leap climbing area, and surrounded by lovely California hiking in all directions. From the moment you step onto the grounds, EarthTrek will bring you back to childhood summer camp with its canvas tents, wood architecture, and large outdoor group areas. Surrounded by tall pines and the sound of the rushing river in the background, this property has everything you need to strike the balance between “roughing it” and “retreat.” Not far from your padded bunks are showers, real bathrooms, and plenty of spots to hang up a hammock.

accomModations
Canvas Tent: We encourage Outwilders to purchase a bunk in the canvas tents onsite. These accommodations will help you meet fellow attendees, sleep well, and have an easy spot to crash/grab things throughout the day. Each bunk comes with a large pad so all you need is a sleeping bag (or sheets and a blanket) and you’re good to go! Tents will be shared with 3-5 other bunkmates. If you have a request for people you'd like to bunk with, please let us know in the post-checkout survey.
The majority of our tents will be gender-neutral, however, we will have a few gender-specific tents for those of you who are interested in this option. If so, please indicate accordingly in your post-checkout survey.
Personal Tent: You may bring your own tent if you prefer to do so. We will have a designated camping area onsite.
Transportation
You can purchase a seat in our shuttle van from Sacramento airport on Thursday evening and back to Sacramento airport on Sunday afternoon (limited spaces available). This shuttle van will depart from baggage claim on Thursday at 6:30 pm sharp and leave the event property at 1:30 pm on Sunday. Thursday/Sunday shuttle trips are not sold separately. If you purchase a shuttle ticket, please plan your flights accordingly so as not to leave other group members waiting.
If the shuttle times do not work with your travel schedule please coordinate your own transportation. There will be a small amount of parking available onsite and we will create an Outwild Hub group for attendees where participants can coordinate carpooling. During the event, we may look to the Outwild community for ride-sharing to offsite activities as necessary.
COVID-19 Precautions:
We will be following CDC guidelines to ensure we protect the health and safety of our guests, volunteers, and attendees. We will also ask that all attendees receive a covid vaccine prior to attending. If you have questions, comments, or concerns regarding this policy please let us know.
