Outwild at Taos

september 21-24, 2023 | taos, new mexico

A small co-ed group retreat to go deeper into our minds and bodies through yoga, breathwork, and adventure.

Outwild at Taos will be the ultimate opportunity to reset. To make a scattered mind a present one. To make a tense body a more relaxed one. At this retreat we will take our yoga practice deeper than usual with 60-90 minute restorative and flow practices followed by breathwork and post-practice discussions. During this time we will slow down and turn inward while also bringing gentle movement and energy into each part of our body. We will use our workshops to investigate our thoughts: the enlivening ones and the sticky ones, as well as what we can do to energize ourselves on a daily basis when we return home. Outside of our cozy lodge, we will nourish and invigorate our minds and bodies with a via ferrata, hot springs, and hiking.

We welcome ALL humans to Outwild events and value diversity in outdoor skill level, age (our attendees range from 21-60+), race, ethnicity, national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial means, education, religious beliefs, and political perspective.

Note: You must be 21 years of age or older to attend this event.

Guided activities

Via Ferrata at Taos Ski Valley:

Via Ferratas (“Iron way” in Italian) are a series of iron steps forged into a steep cliffside, making it possible for novice adventurers to enjoy the thrill and excitement of rock climbing without all the gear, agility, and training. The Taos Ski Valley Via Ferrata, situated at 11,500 feet in the sub-alpine ecosystem of Kachina Peak, features beginner through advanced via ferrata route challenges, a 100-foot skybridge, and a double-cable catwalk. Novice climbers can experience the thrill of cabled mountain travel under the supervision of a guide, and progress to vertical terrain with spectacular views of the Rio Hondo and Wheeler Peak Wilderness.

Hot Spring Soaking at Ojo Caliente:

For thousands of years, travelers and locals alike have been drawn to the wild, unspoiled oases and pure, natural spring waters of Ojo Caliente. Today, this legacy continues as they offer respite from the modern world with therapeutic spring-fed soaking, rejuvenating spa treatments, and unvarnished local experiences. The thermal soaking pools at Ojo Caliente are typically between approximately 98 and 105 degrees fahrenheit. There are nine public mineral soaking pools: Iron, Soda, Lithia, Upper & Lower Cliffsides, Arsenic, Big Pool, Terrace and Mud Pool. Every pool flows with pure mineral water straight from the natural hot springs and is rich in iron, lithia, arsenic, and soda.
